Tour de France in Lille: how to get around on Tuesday and Wednesday?


Closed roads, prohibited parking, inaccessible car parks, reinforced metro and diverted buses: here is the practical information for getting around between Tuesday July 5 and Wednesday July 6 (day of the passage of the fifth stage of the Tour de France) in Lille. Where it will absolutely be necessary to leave the car in the garage.

The disturbances begin Tuesday 5 at 5 p.m., with the closure of boulevards des Cités-Unies, Dubuisson and Hoover on the city center side, of the Flandres bridge, and of rue de la Chaude-Rivière. Then, from 11 p.m. on the same day, exits 2 and 2a towards Lille-Centre, from the eastern ring road, will be closed.

On Wednesday July 6, the day the race passes, closing at 6 a.m. of access to rue de Bavay from the ring road (porte de Valenciennes side), and exits 3a and 3b, towards the Pont de Fives, the back of Lille Grand Palais, rue Javary, Euralille, the stations and the Grand Palais.

This will be followed at 8 a.m. by the closure of exit 1 of the ring road, towards Hellemmes and Petit-Morocco. At the same time, traffic will be cut from rue Bernos in Fives, towards the Pont de Fives, and on rue Javary.

Finally, on the entire route of the Tour, traffic will be prohibited from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., this Wednesday, July 6. Gradual reopening from 2:30 p.m. Please note that in some places, the areas closed to traffic will be wider than the race route itself, for technical reasons, particularly in the Nationale – Liberté sector.


Tour de France 3

It will be forbidden to park from Tuesday July 5 at 1 a.m. and until July 6 late in the evening, on boulevards Dubuisson and Hoover, between the roundabout of the Hôtel de Région and rue de la Chaude-Rivière .

Parking will also be prohibited throughout the race route in Lille and Hellemmes, from Tuesday July 5 at 5 p.m. until Wednesday July 6 at 2:30 p.m. Vehicles will be impounded. It will be open until midnight on Tuesday 5 and from 5 a.m. on Wednesday 6 (03 20 50 90 14).

Please note that access to underground car parks, public and private, will be prohibited on Wednesday July 6, from 8 a.m. to 2.30 p.m.

Shops and deliveries

Deliveries must take place before 8 a.m. Wednesday. But shops will normally be open along the entire route. It is also advisable to pick up your packages after 3 p.m. this Wednesday.

Metro, bus, V’lille

Ilévia announces increased frequency on both metro lines on Wednesday July 6, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Spectators arriving by car are strongly advised to park in the relay car parks, then take the metro or the TER (€1.70, excluding the cost of the support, for the latter on Pass Pass cards).


Ilévia announces strong disruptions mainly at peak times – 7 a.m. – 9 a.m., 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. – due to a social movement. In addition, the line to Roubaix will be interrupted from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow, due to the passage of the Tour, between the Acacias and Eurotéléport stops.

The bus lines passing on the route will be diverted until 3 p.m. – 4 p.m. this Wednesday.

On the V’lille side, the stations along the route will be closed from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday July 6.
