The riders embarked on a 100% Haute-Savoie stage this Tuesday, on a well-known section of the Tour, between Morzine Les Portes du Soleil and Megève. No surprises on this stage which has been covered many times, in one direction or the other (Morzine is a stage town for the 21st time, Megève for the 3rd time), but the certainty of the difficulty with four major climbs and a finish in 1,490 meters above sea level, with the ascent of the Megève altiport, already tested during the Critérium du Dauphiné 2020.
2:09 p.m. Benoît Cosnefroy (AG2R Citroën) and Alberto Bettiol (EF Education-EasyPost) drove ahead of the peloton at km 20, but the two punchers struggled to widen the gap.
2:06 p.m. At 15km, a group breaks away at the front of the peloton, it is quickly taken back. But we feel that there are many candidates for the breakaway at the start of this stage. On Sunday, for the first stage in the Alps, a strong breakaway had kept the Tour in suspense throughout the stage.
1:48 p.m. Let’s go for this 10th stage to conquer the Alps!
1:30 p.m. The fictitious start is given at 1.30 p.m., the real start at 1.40 p.m…. in front of the fans, like this dog spotted by our France Bleu reporting teams!

1:01 p.m. Small traffic problem when leaving Morzine. An EF Education team bus crashed into a low wall after a bend.
12:45 p.m. In Morzine, it’s a party at the start village and the opportunity to meet key figures of the Grande Boucle, such as the director of the Tour, Christian Prudhomme, and, of course, Bernard Thévenet, former winner of the Tour in 1975 and 1977 !
12:40 p.m. Before departure, the Frenchman Pierre Latour, in the hunt for the best climber’s polka dot jersey, recognizes that the rest day the day before was really welcome. “It feels good, […] we were able to rest after a very fast week”.
11:30 a.m. After a day of rest, it’s off again for a magnificent mountain stage between Morzine and Megève. Let’s take a look at today’s schedule.
11:09 a.m. Alexis Vuillermoz (TotalEnergie) also retired this morning, at the dawn of the 10th stage. The Franche-Comté runner “suffers from a skin infection, which requires surgery, and a high fever” just indicated his team.
10:30 a.m. Luke Durbridge is the fourth rider to abandon the race for Covid, after the Norwegian Vegard Stake Laengen (UAE), a teammate of the yellow jersey Tadej Pogacar, the French Geoffrey Bouchard (AG2R Citroën) and Guillaume Martin (Cofidis).
10:10 a.m. New defection due to Covid: Australian Luke Durbridge (BikeExchange-Jayco) will not start the 10th stage of the Tour de France, he tested positive for Covid. Harsh news for the peloton, the day after the results, all negative, of a wave of tests carried out by the UCI on Sunday evening, after several abandonments due to positive tests.
